Optimist Dinghies are the most important learning boat in the world. Ages 6 to 15 with weights from 35 to 55 Kg. Start up fleets can be found at many clubs across Alberta. http://www.sail123.com/coda

Laser 4.7 uses the same hardware as the Radial and Laser with a shorter bottom mast section and sail. Suitable for 35 - 60 Kg. http://www.laser.org

Laser Radial is the ladies single-handed Olympic class. Competitive sailors male and female run between 55 and 73 Kg. http://www.laser.org

Laser is often the largest fleet at regattas across Alberta and around the world. Competative weights are 70 Kg. plus. http://www.laser.org

29er’s have a small but active fleet. This is boat is the training boat for the much more powerful Olympic boat, the 49er. It is very quick with a premium on agility. Total competitive crew weight generally run between 115 and 135 Kg. http://www.29ernorthamerica.org

Keelboats of all kinds are found on lakes of all sizes across the province. Suggest you contact your local club to find what is popular locally. Two clubs that specifically cruising are; Foothills Association of Cruising Sailors and Alberta Offshore Sailing Association

Ice Boating is a great way to fill the off season when the water gets hard. Speeds far faster that you can achieve on water.
